Mit seinem kreativen Ansatz Kulturen zu vermischen wurde Shantel weltweit das hörbare Gesicht eines anderen Deutschlands, ist er doch der erste, der hier der Popkultur einen kosmopolitischen Sound einimpfte. Bei ihm ist Migration hör- und tanzbar. Musikalische Preziosen aus Südosteuropa, dem nahen Osten oder vom Mittelmeer erscheinen in einem neuen, vielschichtigen Kontext, damit wird auch die Kultur, aus der sie entstammen, intuitiv erfahrbar.

Seine Methode ist kulturelles Mixing und Sampling: Dinge aus dem Zusammenhang reißen und in einen neuen überführen.

Clubkultur als Konzept, das sich permanent weiterentwickelt und nicht als Museum, in dem das ewig Gleiche repetiert wird – wie in Berlin, wo tausende von Touristen vor dem Berghain warten, um das Vorhersehbare erleben zu dürfen.

Nun schlägt Shantel mit 30 Jahre Club Guerilla ein neues Kapitel seiner never ending Tour unter dem Motto „Shantology // 30 Years of Club Guerilla“ auf. Zum Fest (06.10.2017) erscheint eine aufwändige 4-LP-, 2-CD-Box mit opulentem Begleitbuch mit Texten und Bildern, die Shantels Weg nachzeichnen.

Die Alben werden voll mit unveröffentlichtem, neu aufgenommenem und bestens abgehangenem Material sein, das eindrücklich die zeitlose Hit-Qualität seiner Musik herausarbeitet. Rückschau – eher nicht, rückblickende Vorausschau – schon eher.

Der Disko Partizane liebt es spannend und bleibt für Überraschungen gut.

Zusammen mit seinem Gastgeber Robert Soko wird er im Berliner Lido wie gewohnt für einen regelrechten Ausnahmezustand sorgen!

With this open-minded approach, Shantel is the audible side of a different Germany. He is the first to have injected a cosmopolitan sound into the local pop culture. In his case, migration can be heard and danced to. He plays musical treasures from south-eastern Europe, the Mittle East or the Mediterranean in a new context, making it possible to experience intuitively the cultural it originated in.

His method is cultural sampling: taking things out of their context and putting them into a new one. Club culture as a concept of permanent development, not as a museum in which to repeat the same, eternally – like in Berlin, where thousands of tourists wait in front of Berghain so as to be able to experience the predictable.

Now, on the 30th anniversary of Club Guerilla, Shantel is opening a new chapter on his never-ending tour under the heading: „Shantology // 30 Years of Club Guerilla”. For that fest (on 6.10.2017) an elaborate 4-LP, 2-CD box plus opulent booklet with texts and images outlining Shantel’s career will be launched.

The albums will be full of unpublished newly recorded and ‘well hung’ material that will impressively highlight the timeless hit quality of his music. A review? No, more a retrospective look forward. This disco partisan likes things exciting, and is always good for surprises.

Hand in hand with his host, Robert Soko, he will with no doubt instigate a state of emergency within the Berlin Lido.
