The Meteors are an English psychobilly band formed in 1980. Originally from London, England, they are often credited with giving the psychobilly subgenre—which fuses punk rock with rockabilly—its distinctive sound and style. Though the origins of psychobilly are debated, The Meteors are the first band to self-identify as psychobilly, and are often credited with the distinction of being the only “pure” psychobilly band among fans of the subgenre.

Don't let the upright bass, greased hair, and sideburns fool you. THIS AIN'T NO ROCKABILLY BAND! It's way too dirty and you wont wanna swing dance to it. But dance you will. With elements of dirty rock'n'roll, cowpunk, polka and dark humor you wont know weather to laugh or die. The band is so willing to entertain you, they sacrifice their own well being with ridiculous stage stunts which has ended often with a trips to the hospital and almost the morgue. Thats how much they care. It's a show you will want to crucify yourself if you miss. Featuring Heini Heimpel on Vocals and gut-wrenching guitar, Luscious Lloyd Clark on upright bass and Francesco Tonial pounding the drums in perfect harmony.

Here comes their 4th full length album, bigger, better, and darker than ever. Rightly named "The Black Album" featuring 12 killer tracks including "Funny What You Pray", "Wait for the Kick" & "When I Die"...The Black Album shows their many flavors...all of them drenched in sweat and beer, rolling around in the graveyard with ponies and dandelions.

A Pony Named Olga gründeten sich 2005 in berlin. Und zwar: Heini Heimpel Voc/Guit, Stephan Fleck Drums, Uli Geiss Kontrabass. Diese Besetzung ist bis heute konstant, bis auf Uli Geiss, der sich ganz der Malerei widmete und 2009 durch Lloyd Clark von den Kamikaze Queens ersetzt wurde. Und Francesco Tonial Drums (2015)

Die band hat mittlerweile hunderte von Shows in D, AT, CH, NL, SE, IT, ES, PO, FR, CZ. und wurde im März 2014 zum South by Southwest Festival in Austin, Texas eingeladen und tourt anschließend 3 Wochen durch die USA. Es gibt 3 Alben, das vierte erscheint im April 2014:

A Pony Named Olga mögen es durchgeknallt. Das Trio Terrible gießt sich den Hochprozentigen ohne Umwege direkt in den Hals und sattelt den Gaul zum schrägen Höllenritt durch Country und Rockabilly. Getrieben von simplen, aber schneidigen Rhythmen galoppiert die dengelnde Surf-Gitarre voran und hinterlässt eine Spur aus Staub, Schweiß und Spaghetti. Der backenbärtige Heini Heimpel am Gesang weiss sich ebenfalls kaum zu zügeln und interpretiert seine Aufgabe ganz im Stile der Muppet-Show.

Komplettiert wird das Line-up von Luscious Lloyd (Kamikaze Queens, SCCL), berühmt berüchtigt für seine akkrobatischen Klettereinlagen am Kontrabass und Stephan Fleck an den Drums. Unterm Strich: eine Rock&Roll Show zum ordentlich Abtanzen, die man so schnell nicht vergisst.

Ein paar Worte zum neuen (4.) Album von A Pony Named Olga. Auch wenn die Band ihrem Stil weitestgehend treu geblieben ist, hat sich was getan im Hause Pony Olga. Die Platte wird düsterer als ihre Vorgänger. Texte im Stil wie bei "funny what you pray" oder "makes no difference" findet man so unironisch und beklemmend nicht auf den anderen Alben. Aber das kam ganz von alleine, niemand hat gesagt: "Jungs, wir müssen finsterer werden, wir waren lange genug albern" es hat einfach so funktioniert, und anders wäre es aufgesetzt gewesen. Das Touren hinterlässt natürlich auch Spuren-"I wanna girl thats taller than me" ist in Holland entstanden, na warum wohl!? Das hochphilosophische "same socks-next town" glaube ich in Spanien oder Italien, weil wir zu blöde waren, mit dem
Waschsalon klarzukommen. Ein paar Lieder (auch von den Düsteren) spielen wir schon life, und es ist wirklich eine Freude zu sehen, wie gut die angenommen werden von den Leuten. Wir freuen uns wirklich tierisch auf die neue Platte und sind gespannt auf die Reaktionen! ponyolga
