ARCTIC MONKEYS - AT THE APOLLO (UK 2007)
‘Arctic Monkeys at the Apollo’ is a 76 minute film of the last gig in the Arctic Monkeys acclaimed
world tour 2007 - A stunning show captured exquisitely on film by name Directors of Photography led by Danny Cohen (This is England, Pierrepoint), edited by BAFTA winning editor Nick Fenton (The
Boy Who's Skin Fell Off, Sigur Ros documentary ‘Heima’), directed by Richard Ayoade (The Might
Boosh, The I.T. Crowd) and produced by BAFTA winning Diarmid Scrimshaw from acclaimed Warp
Films (Dead Man’s Shoes, This is England).
It is a cinematic feast with impressive, intuitive, confidently held master shots - a film that invites the audience to immerse themselves in the style and force of the UK's most striking band as they deliver one of their most intense performances to date. It is an exceptionally high standard piece in the mould of 'Stop Making Sense'.
There will be a world premiere in Sheffield on the 5th of October at the Showrooms with the members of the band and Richard Ayoade. The film will have its London premiere as part of the UK’s biggest independent film festival ‘Raindance’ on October the 7th at the exclusive Leicester Square cinema and club ‘Rex’. There will be the film in the cinema and a showcase of some of Domino’s hottest new DJ’s in the bar area.
AAM are targeting mid October one night only screenings across the U.K. and Europe. This will feature an exclusive, personal introduction to the film by the band, filmed by Richard Ayoade.
Domino will mount a significant poster and advert campaign in the press, as well as a significant on- line campaign that will reach the traditional fan-base of the Arctic Monkeys. MySpace have offered to promote the project for a week on their front page and send out to their 4 million UK user base promoting the project with select tracks from the film available to view.
The special exclusive limited screenings will stand alone as a digital cinema event with 5:1 audio in high definition, before the world-wide DVD release during the first week of November 2008. The content captures the essence of the band and their music and the audience will follow.
